Security master
You decide what counts as an asset, and what is just noise.
The security master is the canonical source of truth for what each instrument and position actually is, the reference backbone that every valuation and report keys off. It stays consistent across every venue and chain the fund touches, so the same token is the same thing everywhere it appears.
It defines each instrument and how it is treated: an asset, a liability, income, or noise to be filtered out, such as spam and dust. You can define bespoke and newly issued tokens once, and they are then classified and booked consistently everywhere they appear, rather than being guessed at transaction by transaction.
Why it matters. How each instrument is classified, as an asset, a liability, or income, is a regulatory, legal, and tax question, and the answer can differ by jurisdiction and by entity. The security master is where your answer is written down, so the same rule is applied every time, across every venue and chain.
